About

Balanced Movement is made up of two beautiful studios located in the Riverland - perfectly positioned beside Lake Bonney, BARMERA and the River Murray, RENMARK.

OUR WHY:

Hi there, I’m Hannah, the founder of Balanced Movement Physio & Pilates.

My vision for Balanced Movement was to create a calming space where people look forward to visiting. A space for people to feel empowered, physically and mentally. A space for people to reach their goals and develop their overall strength + wellness. And most importantly, a space to deliver a quality service with less clinical feels, and more COMMUNITY VIBES!

From our little children, through to our adults, the world we live in is naturally evolving into a more sedentary, busy place to live. My goal, is to help people move better with purpose, and find stillness in this crazy, fast paced society we live in.

Founder of balanced movement

Hannah

Originally from Wudinna on the Eyre Peninsula, Hannah opened Balanced Movement in January 2020 and now calls Barmera, her home.

Hannah’s passion for movement began from a very young age, playing her way through every sport she could and following her passion into University, completing her Graduate degree with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2016. Hannah’s passion for Pilates came from beginning classes herself many years ago. She began to understand the benefits of the movement and started to feel and see physical improvements within her own body very quickly.

Hannah completed her Mat & Reformer Pilates instructor certification through the APPI (Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institution) and introduced the Riverland to its very first - boutique Physiotherapy & Pilates Studio.

Hannah continues to grow her knowledge within the industry and has gone on to study more specific treatment forms including Superficial Dry Needling, Cranio Sacral Therapy & paediatrics.

Essentially, Hannah is your girl for specialised Physiotherapy treatments + providing the dream, signature Pilates experience!

KHALEISHA

Meet Khaleisha! KB is our water and sports loving girl who is super cruisey and an all round wonderful human! She is an incredible Occupational Therapist by day and completed her APPI Mat + Reformer Pilates Certification in 2022 to join us as an instructor at Balanced Movement.

We are so incredibly lucky to have KB join our BM team in the Riverland who is originally from the Yorke Peninsula! In her spare time you’ll find her by the water either on or behind a jetski, catching up with friends, heading home to Yorkes for a visit or on the court with basketball/netball.

KB began Pilates after moving to the Riverland as another way to keep active. She loves how such small and controlled movements can challenge our core, strength and balance so much! Pilates also gives KB the chance to zone out of the craziness of the day-day life and focus solely on the body and how it’s moving + feeling..

PILATES INSTRUCTOR

Jorja

Meet Jorja! Our born and bred Renmark girl. Jorja is currently studying physiotherapy in the region. She has always had an interest in exercise, particularly its application in the treatment and prevention of illness and injury, and rehab! Pilates is the perfection companion to physiotherapy, and she can’t wait to help the BM community with their Pilates goals.

She enjoys Pilates as it is minimal impact and challenges the body in ways no other movement does. Pilates also gives a nice rest in what can be a chaotic schedule and helps tap into our body and mind. The fun thing about Pilates is that it is so versatile, and can be suited to anyone, no matter their situation, allowing them to keep moving.

Outside of Pilates you will find her down by the river, exploring our local hidden gems, or spending time with family and friends, that is of course when she’s not studying!

An honorary Riverlander after growing up in Mildura and living in Adelaide, Alex is now a Barmera girl through and through. You can find her sipping on a local brew at Arrosto or lakeside in Barmera, checking her heart rate during Collingwood games and buying piles of books she hopes to one day actually read.

rhiannon

Meet Rhiannon! Born and raised in Barmera, Rhiannon spent 10 years in Adelaide before returning home to raise her family and is now a proud mum to four beautiful girls.

She discovered Pilates after her second pregnancy while rebuilding her core strength, and it quickly became so much more than just exercise. For her, Pilates is about both physical strength and mental wellbeing. A chance to take some much-needed “me time,” reset, recharge and reconnect. She also loves the social side of it and the amazing connections that come from moving alongside such a beautiful community.

Having worked in healthcare for the past 20 years, caring for people has always come naturally to her. She’s a true people person who loves a good chat, a laugh, and helping create a welcoming space where everyone feels comfortable from the moment they walk through the doors.

You’ll often find her behind the scenes as one of BM’s admin extraordinaires helping keep everything running smoothly. When she’s not in the studio, you’ll find her outdoors with her family, either on the coach’s bench or cheering very loudly on the sidelines at netball and footy
